Power of Music

Have you ever heard a song and it stir something inside of you that you can’t seem to recover from after you’ve heard it? Does that same song mean something totally different to you at another point in your life whether it is a happier or a more turbulent time? The power of music is so overwhelming to me. Quite frankly, it’s indescribable. If you can put your feelings into words, feel free to comment. Also, name the title and artist of the song if you can… Peace…

I know it sounds crazy, but Lee Greenwood's song "Proud to by an American" brings forth emotion every time I hear it. It came out during the first Gulf War and my father was deployed in Saudi Arabia. They played that song at my high school every time the announcements were put on the TV and it made me cry the first time and every time since. Music is amazing....life wouldn't be the same without it.

too many songs to actually name--- there were so many songs that i grew up with that just take me back to simpler times, then there are artists voices that we may never experience again like donnie hathaway although his daughter sounds a lot like him or marvin or the production of isaac hayes one of the most heavily sampled dudes of our time --- just way to many i cant even get started on writers--- i luv luv luv music--- hey tiki

A topic we can all agree on. 'Bout time, Tiki :) All arts have the power to take us to new places, help us to understand feelings, make sense of the world. I wish we had the exposure to the other arts that we do to music as well.

Songs that move me... Mr. Wendal by arrested development, many songs by India Arie (Beautiful, This Too Shall Pass, Wings of Forgiveness, Private Party...), Jill Scott (also a lot, but Golden is one of my favorites), John Mayer's Waiting on the world to change, Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry (yes, my husband's influence on me there)... and so many more.

I hope some people list new artists or songs that I can add to my playlist.

Someone recently introduced me to this. Check it out and see what you think. I love it!

i'm prepared for you to make fun of me but there are certain bjork songs (undo, innocence, and who is it) that make me feel better no matter what is going on. a lot of annie lennox songs do the same

I love MUSIC! R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Ole School, all of it! Anything that helps you to escape! Music, it's the best! Sometimes when I'm writing, I'll put headphones on and just write what the music leads me too. It's a great way to escape the world and enter where the artist takes you. Sometimes, you understand exactly what and how they were feeling when they sang the song! Music can be sexxy or intense.. It has the power to alter your mood. Loves it!
